  • Sacrifice

Your Body hung upon the cross
Strengthens me to count to cost

Crucified in weakness, raised in power
    Reviving fire, now come devour

    Every thought not heavenly
An honorable vessel let me be

Love flow down, a sweet aroma
Raise me from this lukewarm coma

Meekest Lamb humbled self to die
Bid me come to You and deny

    Earthly treasures of every type
That I might bear celestial fruit full and ripe

A body prepared for You to dwell therein
Kingdom Life imparted to save me from my sin

Sin and death defeated me, held me down
Spirit breathed to give me a righteous crown

So my soul might live restful, victorious and free
Yoked to You, suffering Servant, who died for me

    Wedded to my Bridegroom inseparably
The Son indeed has set me free

For You may I my life deny
Hate my life and truly die

To sin, to self, to impurity
Unfettered by the blood of Calvary

Earthly joys and fancies entice me less
I have tasted and seen Your rich goodness

    Having found the costliest Pearl
God forbid I lose my soul to gain the world

Grace, come down to strengthen me
That I might no longer live selfishly

"Look and live!" Your call resounds,
"Bury your life within the ground"

No different than my Savior dear
You left Your heavenly home to appear

    As helpless babe, Emmanuel,
To deliver me from grasp of Hell

You gave Your all, Your life entire,
To break the chains of my evil desire

So I might give my heart, my mind, my all
To heed and obey Your every call

"Follow Me, take up your cross,
Let Me burn away your dross"

    Spirit's fire, fall and revive
Make what was dead come alive

Grow in me a passion for You alone
For me You gave Your Life to fully atone

No less You ask of me, Your child
    This captive bought and reconciled

To present myself a living sacrifice
To You who paid the greatest price

Your precious blood shed on the tree
For me, a sinner wholly unworthy

May my life an offering be
    Sanctified completely unto Thee

This vessel formed for your good pleasure
Raise my cup, fill it with Your treasure

Through Your Holy Spirit's power and might
May Your will become my greatest delight

About me...

Christian hedonist in training. Pressing on to know more and more of the joy of the LORD. Pleading with God to rend the heavens and revive and refresh my own soul, as well as His Church, to His praise, honor and glory.

Thank God. He can make men and women in middle life sing again with a joy that has been chastened by a memory of their past failures. ~ Alan Redpath
