Don't Waste Your Singleness | Single one ... be single-eyed
Single one,
you dream fondly of one true love,
but have you ever really known the everlasting love of your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you long for the warm embrace of a lover,
but have you ever felt the embrace of the right hand of your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you chase and pursue the eye of a lover,
but does your soul pant and follow hard after your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.
Single one,
you desire to hear sweet words spoken by a lover,
but do you long for the Word sweeter than honey spoken by your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you burn with fleshly passion for consummation with a lover,
but do you seek mystic sweet communion with your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.
Single one,
you speak and write word after word to your lover,
but when did you last pour out your heart to your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.
Single one,
you eat and drink with your lover,
but do you celebrate the Bread and Wine poured out by your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you make merry with your lover,
but when did you last enjoy the salvation and the kisses of your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
words of ardor pour forth from your pen to your lover,
but when did you last kneel in worshipful adoration to your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?
Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you sing praises of your lover,
but does your heart sing wholeheartedly of your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you are blazing hot for your lover,
but when was the last time you were anything but lukewarm for your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you write songs of love to your lover,
but when was the last time you sang the new song to your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you fix your gaze upon the face of your lover,
but when was the last time you beheld the beauty and the glory of your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved.Single one,
you find yourself often love sick for your lover,
but when was the last time you were sick with love for your first Love,
the one true God,
your Beloved,
Jesus Christ?Single one,
look away,
arise My love,
come away,
be single-eyed
toward Me
the one true God,
your Beloved. Is My everlasting love not enough for you?
Am I not enough for you?
Matthew 6:20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.22 The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other...
I Corinthians 7:32 I want you to be free from anxieties. The unmarried man is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to please the Lord. 33 But the married man is anxious about worldly things, how to please his wife, 34 and his interests are divided. And the unmarried or betrothed woman is anxious about the things of the Lord, how to be holy in body and spirit. But the married woman is anxious about worldly things, how to please her husband. 35 I say this for your own benefit, not to lay any restraint upon you, but to promote good order and to secure your undivided devotion to the Lord.
Proverbs 5:20 Why should you be intoxicated, my son, with a forbidden woman and embrace the bosom of an adulteress?Ezekiel 6:9 ... I have been broken over their whoring heart that has departed from me and over their eyes that go whoring after their idols. And they will be loathsome in their own sight for the evils that they have committed, for all their abominations. 10 And they shall know that I am the LORD.
Exodus 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying, 2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. 3 You shall have no other gods before me..."Hebrews 13:5 (KJV) Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

I love the truth. It shall defeat the evil in this world. WAH HA HA HA HA HAAA! ANd God will HAVE to come back since he will have to stop the evil form destroying the world.
I think I will attempt to stay single, I enjoy it. The world is so full of evil, why would anyone want to have children?
Some good thoughts on not wasting one's singleness. I think saddest thing about being single is tendency towards self-obsession...
Well, this is a post I can most assuredly relate to... as someone who is perpetually single. I often have to refocus myself on to Christ, because I get really focused on the thought of NOT being single. He is enough... I just forget that sometimes.
Reminds me of a Misty Edwards song: "Give me dove's eyes, give me undistracted devotion for only you."
Having recently become single again after all of these years has not turned my eye away from my Lord. The woman He gave so long ago was also my best friend (on earth). I am thankful to my Lord Jesus that He loved me so much that He died in my place. That kind of love is more precious than diamonds...and in addition I have known the love of a wife. Thank you Jesus!
Amen. (( hugs))
Thanks Karen Deer. Great words of comfort and reassurance
and yet... I don't find any hope in this for the single person who has a desire for marriage and wants it? (not obsession but a desire)... i think to tell a single person who be content at being single is shortsighted... to be honest it doesn't do much partly because then you have a bunch of single folk running around pretending to be content SO that God will send them a spouse/SO... why are the running around content? Because the church is telling them that if they will be content, God will send them their SO... while yes, we aren't to waste our season of singleness...
provide some sense of hope knowing that it is a season as long as they set their minds upon what they know will honor Jesus with their living and in then end, God will do what He will... we just remain steadfast, committed, and faithful (by the grace of God) to living lives that exalt Christ...
we were created for marriage... there's nothing wrong with wanting it... and I submit that anyone who uses the Bible and tells people it's wrong to want to be marriage... i would go and tell them they are stupid and unfit to teach anything much less the Bible... just sayin...
This poster once befriended someone in college, (we had met in a small band), I was close to this individual for a few years, (she helped me through some things related to a boat-load of losses in the family back in 1988) -there was too much on her plate to allow for her to pursue a serious relationship at the time.
Things most of us don't hear about or see-- a) The "highly emotional constructive discussions" all couples have b) the struggles they have raising children c) The tendency to fall into "mind games" (looking for things that aren't really there). d) ("do I want this because everyone else wants it, or. . . . )
I had read this a long time ago...but I haven't done responded at all. All I'm going to say is: "haha."
Amen again
@deathtothenewworldorder - If God calls you to singleness, then yes, I pray you would remain single. But so long as we're in the world, Christians are called to be God's agents of redemption, to make the most of our time and not to merely bide our time here...Think of God's commandments to Israel In Jeremiah 29 when they were going to be going into exile: to build houses, plant gardens, take wives and have children, to multiply there and not decrease. Since the fall, there's always been evil in the world, but we must be wise as serpents (and gentle as doves), train our children and trust God to protect our children through all that.
@GreekPhysique - "Self-obsession" says it all, but that's our sin nature at work. Self-obsession isn't limited to singles, for sure. The devil has a zillion things he dangles in front of us to get us self-obsessed and keep us from being God-obsessed.
@Masked_Melody - He is enough... I just forget that sometimes.
Yes, He is enough. We all struggle w/ that in one sense or another; we all forget. We've got to keep reminding ourselves and one another of that. I'm praying you might know the Lord and His love in greater measure and enjoy Him more (Eph. 3:14-21). I love that line from the song... "Give me dove's eyes, give me undistracted devotion for only you." That is exactly what we need and we need to keep asking the Holy Spirit to give that to us. That way our eyes will be on Jesus and not ourselves or what's happening w/ everyone else around us. (hugs)
@quest4god@revelife - Thanks, Norm. Your love for the Lord and Peggy is precious. It's exciting to see you on your continued quest for God. Colossians 1:11-12.
@YouTOme - Thanks and thanks again, dearie deer. (hugs) and <3
@denimmusic777 - My point here was that to remind singles that God doesn't want them to miss out on what He has for them today and to live life to the full in here and now, to learn to enjoy God and be content in their current circumstances, but not in the hope they might end up marrying (kind of like a quid pro quo) but really learning to love God and know His love more and more and willingly submitting to His will for their lives no matter what, whether they end up marrying or not. So many singles seem to put their lives on hold, not thinking they are valued or have anything of value to contribute, both of which are huge lies.
I totally agree w/ what you wrote here:
as they set their minds upon what they know
will honor Jesus with their living and in then end, God will do what He
will... we just remain steadfast, committed, and faithful (by the grace
of God) to living lives that exalt Christ...
We need to trust our whole lives, including our marital status to God, knowing that His will and His ways are best, even though it may not make sense to us.
God wants us to be content in all circumstances, whether we're single or married and not for us to pretend we are content, but rather to learn contentment and to rejoice in the Lord always, as the apostle Paul did.
If you've not done so yet, you may want to read my next post which discusses the temptation wives have to make our husbands idols. In that post I do make the point that marriage is a gift from God and most people will end up marrying, but whether we're single or married God is to be our all in all.
@WLCALUM - Thanks so much for sharing that. That's tough when we look back and wonder about those past relationships and what might have been. We all have places in our lives when we've been challenged to move on and to trust by faith God's sovereign goodness and His will, even though we can't yet see or understand all His reasons for circumstances working out as they did. I'm praying He would continue to give you visible tokens of His grace to spur you on in your walk w/ Him as well as increased joy in Him. Colossians 1:9-20. (Excuse me for using a couple of the same verses I commented to Norm above - only b/c that passage is so good.)
I really appreciated your insights here...
Things most of us don't hear about or see--
a) The "highly emotional constructive discussions" all couples have b)
the struggles they have raising children c) The tendency to fall into
"mind games" (looking for things that aren't really there). d) ("do I

Psalm 84.
@llamalima - haha back at ya then. I'll be awaiting further llama wisdom.
@naphtali_deer - Thank you for this post. I am learning to appreciate all the differing places that people find themselves in re relationships and listening to them so I can pray intelligently for them.
It is exciting, to say the least, finding new things in our relationship with God that just make our quest that much more wonderful! I wouldn't give this up for anything (by His strength).
@quest4god@revelife - I am learning to appreciate all the
differing places that people find themselves in re relationships and
listening to them so I can pray intelligently for them.
Yes, me too.
I wouldn't give this up for anything (by His strength).
Amen! Stay Strong, Bro, in HIS strength!
Stay strong
You are not lost
Come on and fix your eyes ahead
There's a new dawn to light our day, our day
We've gotta stay strong
You and I run
For the prize that lies ahead
We've come too far to lose our way, our way
Get up, there's further to go
Get up, there's more to be done
Get up, this witness is sure
Get up, this race can be won
This race can be won
We've gotta stay strong
You are not lost
Come on and fix your eyes ahead
Our Father's dawn will light our day, our day
Come on and stay strong
His grip is sure
And His patience still endures
There'll be no letting go today, no way
Come on, and stay strong
You and I run
For the prize that lies ahead
We've come too far to lose our way, our way
@naphtali_deer - Wow! That was so good! Thanks, I needed that! Been a good long while since I last listened to "our theme song."
@quest4god@revelife - You're welcome. Right away your comment made me think of that song. The video only shows on the main site now w/ my theme, though, not on every page (well, at least the way I have it right now).
I'm excited about what God has for you yet. Immortal 'til our work (His good works He's ordained for us) is done!
Ephesians 6:10: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
@naphtali_deer - (His good works He's ordained for us)
Also a very good reminder. HIS WORKS, not something WE decide to do.
Thanks for your support of me! And I can say the same for you!
@quest4god@revelife - (His good works He's ordained for us)
I wrote that mostly for myself, you know.
The devil wants us to get us looking at what we think we should be doing or at everyone else and what they are doing or telling us to do, rather than looking and listening to Jesus and what He's telling us to do. Again, it's all about our idolatrous hearts: the same thing that was the basis of the original post. If God has our whole heart and we've come to know HIS joy, then we can be joyful at all times, no matter our marital status, ministry status or whatever. We need to keep fighting for that, however. The devil doesn't want us to enjoy God right where we're at. Godliness w/ contentment is great gain! ∞
Thanks for your support of me as well!
@naphtali_deer - "The devil wants us to get us looking at what we think we should be doing or at everyone else and what they are doing or telling us to do"
Isn't that the truth? And that is what we tend to do to others also...
(good works...) "God has prepared beforehand that we should walk in them" Makes it sound silly to be "working at working" instead of looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
vs 14 says He is our peace...
