my Father's house
When we were at my Mom's, I looked through a lot of old pictures and found this one. That's me in the foreground, with my grandfather in the background (holding his pipe in his right hand, if you look carefully). He was actually the only Dad I've ever really known. (EDIT - 8.26.09: I've added an extra verse to the poem; God reminded me once again I have no strength to run apart from His strength.)
my Father's house
I never lived there
I hit the ground running
running away
the day I was born
sin nature captivated me
I ran far away from home
far away from my Father's housemy Father's house
I turned back there
I hit the ground running
running back
the day I was reborn
Christ's nature captivated me
I ran quickly back home
back home to my Father's housemy Father's house
I abide there still, yet I go
I hit the ground running
running to the world
the day I saw His glory
Christ's commission captivated me
I run to call others to come home with me
to come home to my Father's housemy Father's house
I abide there still, yet I go
I hit the ground running
running still, yet nearly growing weary, waiting upon Him,
the day I became His child
the devil became my adversary
I can run only as He renews my strength, so I run
'til I hear His trumpet call and His angels carry me home to reign forever in my Father's house

I have goose bumps Karen and it is 90 degrees outside. I love the portion,
my Father's house
I turned back there
I hit the ground running
running back
the day I was reborn
Christ's nature captivated me
I ran quickly back home
back home to my Father's house
Love it!
I want so much to be able to stay there.........

@roseteacup - Maxine, thank you.
@quest4god@revelife - Norm, I know. (holy hugs) But remember you are always there with Him, already seated in the heavenly places, in the bosom of the Father, no matter where He sends you; He is there with you. He doesn't cut & run; He's not left you an orphan. Praying He will fill you with His joy unspeakable tonight so you might sing & dance in Him, brother – so exuberantly that I can hear you here!

This poem reminds of me of the last church in Revelation. God wants us hot or cold, not lukewarm. A long time ago, a visiting preacher said that if you are going to sin, do it with all your heart, and if you are going to love and follow the Lord, then do it with all your heart.
I love the thought you expressed here. It was very moving. My dad was like a grandfather. When I was born, dad was 59. He died when I was 13 and her treated me like a grand child looking back.
Have a nice day, Karen,
blessings,
frank
@ANVRSADDAY - I wasn't particularly thinking of it in quite that way when I wrote this, but yes, I definitely agree with you: God does want us to be hot. I've just been reflecting on that once again in the past couple days.
We had a somewhat odd family situation: my grandparents ended adopting me when I was quite young, though my Mom was always still Mom. But my grandfather was always Dad to me as far as I can remember. That look on his face in this picture is very similar to the look I remember he had the day Paul & I married.
Blessings in Him,
Karen
These days my running is more like a slow walk, but I want to keep going.

He says if we wait on Him, He WILL renew our strength....I have to count on that.
Thanks for this post, Karen

Amen. Cheering you on!

Yes, that's one of those promises we have to take by faith during those times we have no strength at all. He does have the power to perform what He has promised. He is able!
Thanks for the example of perseverance you have been to me, brother.
