  • Henry makes me feel like a spiritual scavenger. What little I have in comparison to him is when reading the Bible in the morning. These guys run in a different park. I guess all these very gifted Christian ministers that you and my wife like are inspirational.

    Loved your post.

  • Does your religion spring from a principle of love, from an internal heart religion – or are you only ruled and acted by an external law?

Christ on the very inside makes it the "internal heart religion".  External law - crow putting in dove feathers.

  • @ANVRSADDAY - Scougal definitely sets the bar high. But we need to have our sights set higher and higher because it's too easy for us to become complacent and to dumb down our expectations. We need to have our eyes opened to what Lloyd-Jones called "the great and glorious possibilities" of the Christian life, and then to ask, seek, and knock at the throne of grace. Impossible with us, but possible through the resurrection power of Christ in us.

@eagleendtime - I LOVED that image you set forth: External law - crow putting in dove feathers. The guise of Christianity is never going to fool God. We each stand naked before Him; He knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts.

  • I love having a Bible that is specifically for me--taking notes, etc.  I have several versions, etc, but the one I'm carrying now is one my husband got me several years ago for our 25th anniversary--The only reason I could 'start over' was b/c this was for a special occasion.  It's aleady got some wear and tear.

The verse in Zeph. is one of my very favorites. It also speaks of Abba singing over us--How cool is that?

  • @stephensmustang - Wear and tear in that case is a very good thing. ;)

That verse is Zephaniah is astounding, isn't it? Our God is an astounding God! :) Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name!

About me...

Christian hedonist in training. Pressing on to know more and more of the joy of the LORD. Pleading with God to rend the heavens and revive and refresh my own soul, as well as His Church, to His praise, honor and glory.

Thank God. He can make men and women in middle life sing again with a joy that has been chastened by a memory of their past failures. ~ Alan Redpath
