Thomas' song ... my song ~ Letter 141 on assurance & fighting for joy
Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)
But without faith
it is impossible to please him:
for he that cometh to God
must believe that
he is,
and that
he is a rewarder
of them that
diligently
seek
him.
Habakkuk 2
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.
4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith.Luke 18:1 (KJV)
And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint ...Exodus 33
12 Moses said to the LORD, “See, you say to me, ‘Bring up this people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. Yet you have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have also found favor in my sight.’ 13 Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people.”Jeremiah 33:3
Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.Thomas' Song ~ If only, if only I'd see Your face!
All my dreams, I would watch them fade
All the earthly, I'd gladly tradeIf only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!My highest ambitions placed upon the fire
To gain Christ, to know Him – my blazing desire!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!O! To see my Lord with mine own eye!
My portion fore'er, perfect supply!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!In this barren and thirsty land
To hear Your voice, to grasp Your hand!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!Among the captives, heavens be rent
To my panting soul, refreshment sent!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!In this nighttime valley of death
Pour, precious oil, Holy Spirit breath!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!In the wilderness, so desolate
A table prepared, celestial treat!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!As enemies rush upon me like a flood
Remember Your covenant – redeeming blood!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!As I go to You outside the camp
Be my shield and be my lampIf only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!In the darkness – a glimmer, Glory's sight!
A moment on the Mount: truest delight!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!All my griefs, my every tear
Worth it all, as You draw near!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!While shut up here in this prison court
Living manna, fall! Word of the LORD!If only, if only I'd see Your face!
The just shall wait –– shall live by faith
The just shall wait –– shall seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!Having found grace, I cry, "Grace!
Find me in this desert place!"If only, if only I'd see Your face!
Yet I shall wait –– and live by faith
Yet I shall wait –– and seek by faith
O! to pray, that I might not faint!Jeremiah 33
1 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah a second time, while he was still shut up in the court of the guard: 2 “Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it to establish it—the LORD is his name: 3 Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.Ezekiel 1:1
1 In the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, on the fifth day of the month, as I was among the exiles by the Chebar canal, the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.Genesis 39
20 And Joseph's master took him and put him into the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were confined, and he was there in prison. 21 But the LORD was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.Acts 7
54 Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him. 55 But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. 56 And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”Psalm 23
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.Habakkuk 2
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.
4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith.Job 42
1 Then Job answered the LORD and said:2 “I know that you can do all things,
and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
3 ‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.
4 ‘Hear, and I will speak;
I will question you, and you make it known to me.’
5 I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear,
but now my eye sees you;
6 therefore I despise myself,
and repent in dust and ashes.”
John 20
24 Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe.”26 Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.” 28 Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Hebrews 13
10 We have an altar from which those who serve the tent have no right to eat. 11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the holy places by the high priest as a sacrifice for sin are burned outside the camp. 12 So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. 13 Therefore let us go to him outside the camp and bear the reproach he endured. 14 For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. 15 Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.
Jeremiah 31
1 “At that time, declares the LORD, I will be the God of all the clans of Israel, and they shall be my people.”
2 Thus says the LORD:
“The people who survived the sword
found grace in the wilderness;
when Israel sought for rest,
3 the LORD appeared to him from far away.
I have loved you with an everlasting love;
therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.

We look for the city whose builder and maker is God, yet in the meantime we do see Him by faith.
@quest4god@revelife - "I believe; help Thou mine unbelief."
1. Oh, for a faith that will not shrink
Tho' pressed by many a foe;
That will not tremble on the brink
Of poverty or woe;
2. That will not murmur nor complain
Beneath the chast'ning rod,
But in the hour of grief or pain
Can lean upon its God;
3. A faith that shines more bright and clear
When tempests rage without;
That, when in danger, knows no fear,
In darkness feels no doubt;
4. That bears unmoved the world's dread frown
Nor heeds its scornful smile;
That sin's wild ocean cannot drown
Nor Satan's arts beguile;
5. A faith that keeps the narrow way
Till life's last spark is fled
And with a pure and heavenly ray
Lights up the dying bed.
6. Lord give us such a faith as this;
And then, whate'er may come,
We'll taste e'en now the hallowed bliss
Of an eternal home.

@quest4god@revelife - Amen. So long as He gives me HIMSELF, that is MORE than enough!
Psalm 37:
18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. (KJV)
18 The LORD knows the days of the blameless,
and their heritage will remain forever;
19 they are not put to shame in evil times;
in the days of famine they have abundance. (ESV)
@naphtali_deer - I'm right there with you on that comment! Actually, His desire to give of Himself - and to receive us FOR Himself is wonderfully stated in the relationship of the Godhead. I love to read and reread John 17. There, we see the love of the Son for His Father and vice-versa as love - true love - manifests itself.
Yes, our redeemed soul pants after Him and desires Him above all else. Nothing else can come close to satisfying. Our flesh, however, is not wanting to die so that we can truly live....Jesus is the answer to that dilemma! He wants us to see His glory!
