  • Hi Karen, Wow, bragging about serving Jesus is risky business. My N.T. reading was in Mark this morning. Two brothers actually asked Jesus for the two top chairs of importance in heaven!! Are they kidding?? No, but what a  display of the pride that is quick to plague us.

I liked Matt 6:1 in today's scripture selection. That was worth reading. My wife struggles with wanting to tell others about what the Lord has done for us without looking prideful.

I don't worry about it too much, but try to avoid being to grossly prideful--it is a disgusting sin and causes loss of friends. I am grateful that am my ugly pride was paid for on the cross by Jesus, but that does not give me a blank check to be a jerk.

Loved you post!!! It is right on point.

  • That was a lovely message.

"I am grateful that my ugly pride was paid for on the cross by Jesus, but that does not give me a blank check to be a jerk." - Yes, exactly! That's what Paul did right after expounding God's gift of salvation by grace alone in Jesus Christ in the first several chapters of Romans, when he reminds us we can't take license w/ such a great salvation...  Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?...

@angys_coco - Thank you. It's a joy & privilege to consider and write about God's gift of salvation to undeserving and unworthy sinners like us!
