Mercy wide and mercy deep
Mercy wide and mercy deep
Here in this pit, for even me?
I whose sin causes You griefMercy wide and mercy deep
Christ lifted up for all to see
Gave His life for all His sheepFather's will was to bruise Him
To worldly eyes only foolish
To th' elect, the pow'r of salvationO, spotless Lamb of Calvary
I see! I see! Grace and mercy
Poured out for sinners like meO, precious price, O, so steep
Blood brought me to Your mercy seat
Ransomed once, forever in Your keepBlessed rest from all my labor
God whose mercies never waver
Hallelujah! What a Savior!Press to know Christ, holy desire
Burn away the dross, Holy Fire
O, keep me zealous, never tireIf we resemble the world
If our passions remain swirled
If we don't pursue the PearlIf our lives are self-absorbed
If day in, day out Christ is ignored
Is Jesus worshiped and adored?Embracing the leaven in the dough
Alive in Christ, but where's the overflow?
Is our faith living, or a dead show?Our lips singing "Joy unspeakable"
Emotions may rise and they may peek
But does our worship not truly reek?Lukewarm, sluggish and asleep
Is this the fruit our Lord seeks?
Presumption makes grace cheapOur first Love have we forsaken?
Spurned Living Water for broken cisterns?
Have mercy, turn us, so we might turn!Scattered sheep must be told
Other sheep still not of this fold
Send Your Spirit, make us boldWandering sheep we must compel
Need saving from eternal hell
How can they hear unless we tell?Can we say we are His sheep
If for the lost we do not weep?
Send us, give us beautiful feetCan we say we are His sheep
If we don't show, if we don't preach
His mercy wide and mercy deep?

These triplets are so well constructed! Thanks for your faithful reminders to us!
I like this one especially:
"Press to know Christ, holy desire
Burn away the dross, Holy Fire
O, keep me zealous, never tire"
May we (I) never tire of seeking to know Him more intimately.
Very encouraging! Thank you!
Beautiful poem, and such a message!!
@quest4god@revelife - @TravelingStranger - @chris4christ2005 - Thank you. I was blessed - encouraged/challenged/convicted - in writing this for it expressed so many things that have been on my heart. Thank God for His mercy wide & mercy deep - may we not trample on it.
<lyrics>There's a wideness in God's mercy
like the wideness of the sea;
there's a kindness in his justice,
which is more than liberty.<lyrics>
There is welcome for the sinner,
and more graces for the good;
there is mercy with the Savior;
there is healing in his blood.<lyrics>...

@PD - Amen. I love that hymn.
The phrase "Mercy wide and mercy deep" came to me the day I wrote this, and then I looked up the hymn. Praise God for His mercy!
