sin's cold deception, my Father's warm reception
Satan prowls, your sifting draws near
the cock will crow, take heed and hearwatch, pray lest you enter temptation
and be ensnared by sin's cold deceptionmy heart hardened to Your call
I boasted in self and stood tallmy eyes moved away from the Son
and so commenced my prodigal runsin upon sin I was heaping
Your grace I began cheapeningYour glory I was squandering
how very far was I wanderingevery gift, every expertise
what from You did I not receive?with faith I moved many a mountain
but stopped drinking from Your fountainmy tongue spoke so eloquently
but my life lacked true charityyet Your loving hands kept extending
Your rod this wayward sheep tendingYour mercy followed and drew near
then You opened my closed earsounding brass and clanging cymbal
Your reminder I was no honorable vesselmy prodigal disobedience
hedged in by Your tendernessmy deadly, foolish blindness
met by Your quickening kindnessYour Word sent to shatter
my heart like a hammermy high hill of arrogance
prostrated to repentanceYour judgment rightly spoken
left my bones and heart brokenYour Spirit shining, circumcising
my darkness Your sword excisingblessed discipline from above
may I not despise this gift of lovewash me from my iniquity
I was blind but now I seemake me to hear joy and gladness
tonight I sit in sackcloth and ashesto Your promises I tightly hold
to Your throne my approach is boldsurely the living Word's fruitful conception
leads home to my Father's warm reception

"my heart hardened to Your call

As soon as we quit looking "unto Jesus" we begin to see ourselves as righteous, forgetting that our only righteousness is in Him We measure ourselves against others and imagine that we have stature above them, forgetting that ALL have sinned includes us.
Why do we persist in resisting His word? He WILL complete His work in us!
@quest4god@revelife - We are in a love affair with self, self, self! We love to look at self, self, self! – and we love to make much of self, self, self! – and not Christ, Christ, Christ! And as soon as we begin to do that, we sink and sink badly!
We resist b/c we are sinners through and through! But yes, thank God HE will complete the work He's begun. Jude 24-25!
The Father's warm reception. All thanks and praise to Him!
