the pilgrim's Assurance ~ His Sovereign pouring | letter 110 on assurance & fighting for joy
Isaiah 48:1a
Hear this, O house of Jacob,
Who are called by the name of Israel,
And have come forth from the wellsprings of JudahI pour water on the thirsty
I pour floods on the dry landI grow fruit in the barren womb
I fill to overflowing the empty handI provide manna for the hungry
I fully nourish the pilgrim bandO, My adopted children, why do you delay
Blessings and pleasures await you, glorious and grandHave I not promised, have you not heard
I will not forsake you, your borders I will expandYour scattering is for a greater gathering
O ye of little faith, do you not yet understandI have been with you in affliction's furnace
Every trial My love's chastening divinely plannedMy sovereign Spirit yearns to pour upon you
Come now, my sister, my spouse, take My handAll ye who are of My sheep, hear My voice, be led
Taste and see, enjoy Me in My pleasant pasture landHear this, O house of Jacob,
Who are called by the name of Israel,
And have come forth from the wellsprings of JudahI am rest to those who labor
I strengthen the faint and weakI satisfy early with My mercy
I am found by those who seekI draw near to the brokenhearted
I revive the humble, rejoice the soul of the meekO, My kingdom children, why do you delay
Press in so I might carry you to My mountain peakHave I not promised, have you not heard
In the shadows see My goodness, no more be bleakMy blood was poured, My flesh was ripped
The veil torn, enter in, My bride, so we might meetLeave your broken cisterns, come to the wellspring
Escape the desert bondage, flee the country of stifling heatMy sovereign Spirit yearns to pour upon you
Dawdle no more, elected ones, hasten to Zion's mercy seatMy lambs, take your rightful place in My bosom
My love come, drink and delight, enjoy refreshment sweetIsaiah 44:1 Yet hear me now, O Jacob My servant,
And Israel whom I have chosen.
2 Thus says the LORD who made you
And formed you from the womb, who will help you:
‘Fear not, O Jacob My servant;
And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
3 For I will pour water on him who is thirsty,
And floods on the dry ground;
I will pour My Spirit on your descendants,
And My blessing on your offspring;
4 They will spring up among the grass
Like willows by the watercourses.’Luke 11:9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

Why do we go hungry and thirsty when our God has such an abundance for us? He delights to care for His children. This post reminded me of this song....
Ho! every one that is thirsty in spirit,
Ho! every one that is weary and sad;
Come to the fountain, there’s fullness in Jesus,
All that you’re longing for: come and be glad!
Refrain“I will pour water on him that is thirsty,
I will pour floods upon the dry ground;
Open your hearts for the gifts I am bringing;
While ye are seeking Me, I will be found.”
Child of the world, are you tired of your bondage?
Weary of earth joys, so false, so untrue?
Thirsting for God and His fullness of blessing?
List to the promise, a message for you!
Refrain
Child of the kingdom, be filled with the Spirit!
Nothing but “fullness” thy longing can meet;
’Tis the enduement for life and for service;
Thine is the promise, so certain, so sweet.
Refrain
@quest4god@revelife - Amen!
