  • it best to serve the lord the best of our abeat and to truse in him

  • my soul restored, dancing and singing
when to my Savior only clinging

Me too!   I must find that place once again!

  • @quest4god@revelife - No, YOU will not find it, HE will find you! Though already fully believing in the sovereignty of God, I am now wholly convinced of this in His dealings with His people, and in particular as I have witnessed His dealings with me over the past few weeks. A little while ago I looked back at some notes I'd written a few days ago re:: Scriptural truths that applied to my situation, and yes, they did give me some help, but not really deep, durable help for my soul. He had given me glimmers along the way and then finally last night, actually in the writing of this poem, HE CAME – the Spirit imparting that real sense of joy and peace to my soul.

Isaiah 42:16: And I WILL bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I WILL lead them in paths that they have not known: I WILL make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things WILL I do unto them, and NOT FORSAKE THEM.

  • @dmcx2010 - Yes, serve the Lord and trust Him! We need His strength to help us continue to do that.

From "Only Trust Him" by John H. Stockton

Come, every soul by sin oppressed,
    There's mercy with the Lord;
And He will surely give you rest,
    By trusting in His Word.

    Refrain:

Only trust Him, only trust Him,
    Only trust Him now.
He will save you, He will save you,
    He will save you now.

    Christ's blessings,
    Karen

  • @quest4god@revelife - Norm, I didn't mean to imply you sit back and do nothing. Keep panting for Him, seeking His face, watching for Him; keep asking, seeking and knocking. But we can never predict how, when or where He will come to us. In His sovereign plan, He will come to His children, He will draw us to Himself when He wills, the Spirit blows where He wishes – all for our good and His glory. Praying along w/ you, bro.

Psalm 65:4  Blessed is the one you choose and bring near,
    to dwell in your courts!
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house,
    the holiness of your temple!

Psalm 81:10  I am the LORD your God,
who brought you up out of the land of Egypt.
Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it.

  • Surrendering all to Him is easier said than done..but necessary.

  • @stephensmustang - Yes, definitely necessary. Thank God He works in us to will and to do of His good pleasure!

  • wow! this speaks to me. i was releasing a lot earlier today.

  • I liked this prose (correct word?) The struggle between my flesh and the Spirit never ends in my life. They both wake up in me every morning. lol  My wife keeps hoping that she will somehow cross over to the Spirit and not have to deal with flesh anymore. I cannot in all honesty encourage her with that idea.

    Beautifully written, Karen

  • Beautiful!  Showing the struggle of the flesh and the Spirit.  I love this!

  • @JulieDeer - Yes, doing better. Thanks, Deer. God brought me to back to my senses so I might finally stop looking at self and idolizing self and look away to Him again. There's no peace or rest otherwise.

@ANVRSADDAY - Thanks, Frank. I don't know what you'd call this, sort of poetry, but not exactly, since though it rhymes, it doesn't have a regular meter throughout.

Yes, both the flesh and the Spirit wake up in us every morning, and that struggle won't end in this life, but the good news is that b/c we have that struggle it's one indicator that we are really ALIVE in Christ. Unbelievers don't have such a struggle. I do think we can receive grace to become more and more Spirit-controlled, but so long as we are in these bodies, the flesh will still rise up to fight.

@kamrandolph - Thank you. It came from my own recent struggle, but is the experience of all Christians.

  • @naphtali_deer - Yes and it is why I love it so much.  It is a struggle I recognize all to well sometimes.
