I have found grace in the eyes of the Lord

II Timothy 4:16  At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge. 17  Notwithstanding the Lord STOOD with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

Romans 5:1  Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. 2  Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we STAND, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3  More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4  and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, 5  and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Ephesians 6:10  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to STAND against the schemes of the devil. 12  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13  Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to STAND firm. 14  STAND therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15  and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16  In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17  and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18  praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints...

The waters had been deepening and darkening. The waters were abundant and abounding. My feet had almost stumbled and I was in danger of slipping. You sent from above, took me, drew me out of many waters. I have found grace in Your eyes, O Lord. Your grace toward me has been abundant and abounding. You came down to the depths of my darkness. You have been delivering me from my strong enemy, and from them which hated me: for they were too strong for me. I am my own strong enemy. I am too strong for myself. They confronted me in the day of my calamity: but You alone, my LORD, You alone have been my only stay and my only support. You are bringing me forth into a large and broad place, You are delivering me, because You delight in me. O LORD, I know I have nothing delightful in myself alone. I have no righteousness and I have no clean hands but through Your Son's imputed and imparted righteousness alone. You delight in me and reward me and are delivering me only for His blessed Name's sake. May Your grace be abundant and abounding to me. May Your living waters continue to be abundant and abounding for my thirsty soul so I might continue to stand and watch on the house top.

a stronghold to the needy in his distress.

I have found grace in the eyes of the Lord

having found grace in the eyes of the Lord
    here I stand
I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top

  • It seems that you have included references to many in Scripture,  I'll have to study it over to find where they all come from.  It is true, what  you say, though.  Amen

  • @JulieDeer - Thanks, Deer. You too! Isaiah 40:11.

@quest4god@revelife - I looked in the mirror yesterday morning and remembered Luther's words: "Here I stand" and knew that's what I had to do – stand – & God would help me do so, even though at that point I was really floundering. At the same time I began to think through some men and women of faith in the Bible, and then the verse "Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord" was really impressed on me. Thank God for the gift of God's grace to stand for apart from Him we can do nothing!
