Two sheep, Two sisters (a joyous requiem)
Two sheep, though far we both had wandered
Into the Shepherd's arms were gently gatheredGreat grace flowed down from high above
Made us partakers of God's unmerited loveThe Lamb's pierced hands and side and feet
Blood sacrifice made atonement full and completeHoly Spirit fell, our hearts circumcised
Imparted life-giving baptismal fireThe blessed Word opened to us wider
Christ became our all-surpassing desireThe veil torn, His banner unfurled
Within our chests our hearts they burnedTwo sisters, now we sat at His feet
Family worship, so full and sweetTranslated into the pure, eternal light
Shared fellowship with Him a delightA table prepared, the banquet spread
His poured-out Blood and broken BreadHoly Spirit, our seal and guarantee
Gave boldness to approach the mercy seatHinds' feet leaped, set on high places
Spirit endowed, we ran our racesYour soul this day our Savior bade you
"Come, my love, to the mansion I made you"Dear sister and friend, I cannot lie
I'll miss you dearly, I don't denyBut in the end death will not be victorious
Christ's bride will be gathered, blameless and gloriousNot one sheep missing, all united at the trumpet call
The Bridegroom will descend in glory and take us allThat Day we'll sing together forever with saints from all the nations
In Jerusalem, built and made by God, the city with foundations
In memory of a dear sister in Christ who went to glory earlier today.Other recent posts...
