Reformation Rebels: Are you willing to be a rebel for the sake of the Church?
On Reformation Day, I reminded us that the church must always be reformed or else she will become deformed. Today I'd like us to look back and consider some of the men of the Reformation – but first off, let's consider Jesus Himself.
A sanctified troublemaker but He never sinned, naw
and He lived His life by a different set of Rules
the culture ain't approve
Jesus was a rebel who was counter cultural
I'll remain a rebel while the rest of them just carry on
this is what I live fo
this the hill I'm buried on
if Jesus is the truth
that means one of us is VERY wrong
think about it
If you really want to be a rebel read your Bible, because no one is doing that....
that's rebellion that's the only rebellion left.
Um, so weren't the leaders of the Reformation rebels?
Willing to obey God rather than men...
Going outside the camp...
Not counting their lives worthy unto death...
Seeking to tear down the outward shell of religion...
Loving the Word of God enough to die for it...
Loving God enough to die for Him...
Loving God's Church enough to die for her...
Striving to the uttermost to put the Word of God into the hands of the people of God.
Seeking to lift up Christ by tearing down the concept of the human priesthood.
Isn't it time for a little rebellion?Instead of preaching from popular books filled with no Scripture,
let's rebel and open up the Word of God!Instead of seeking knowledge from conferences with men,
let's rebel and seek God Himself and conference with Him in our closets.Acts 6:4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
There is neither help nor hope for us apart from God's appointed means of life and sustenance.May God give us grace to give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the Word.
Are you willing to be a rebel for the glory of God, the furtherance of the Gospel and the sake of His holy Church?
(If God has been giving you a heart to see the Church revived and returned to her Biblical foundations, I invite you to message me.)

@TravelingStranger - @quest4god@revelife - Thankful we are laborers together with God!
Reformation is only necessary when we deviate from what God wants us to be. That means if it ain't broken, don't fix it. Nevertheless, a lot needs to be fixed in the Christendom today as in Roman Catholicism, hence the birth of Protestantism. Even so, none of the existing Reformations had managed to correct every problem in the Christendom. We have to reform until we've reached the point of perfection, then, reform would cease to be beneficial.
The Reformers had this saying: ecclesia reformata semper reformanda secundum verbum Dei [the church reformed, always being reformed, according to the word of God]. Though Christ has saved His people from the penalty and the power of sin, while we are in this life, we still have to deal with the ongoing presence of sin; therefore individual Christians and the Church as a whole remain in the process of being sanctified. It's true we won't be able to correct every problem, but we should be doing all we can to work toward purity in doctrine and practice in our individual lives as well as in the Body of Christ. God's desire is for Christ's bride to holy and blameless before Him.
Ephesians 5:22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
