In this valley, in the midst of this valley (Ezekiel 37:1-14)
Where am I, Father?
Don't you know that you're
in the valley,
in the midst of the valley.Look, I don't see, now tell me, Father, why did you set me here
in this valley,
in the midst of this valley?
Look and see, and tell Me, child, what do you see here
in this valley,
in the midst of this valley?
bones
all around
quiet
bones
all around me
but where is the Breath?darkness
all around
silent
darkness
all around me
but where is the Light?death
all around
lifeless
death
all around me
but where is the Life?dryness
all around
brittle
dryness
all around me
but where is the Rain?ruins
all around
desolate
ruins
all around me
but where is the Restoration?O, Lord, have mercy on me, please tell me: why have You set me here in this valley?
How long, O Lord, must I stay here in this valley, in the midst of this valley?the bones
the darkness
the death
the dryness
the ruinsburdening me
crushing me
overwhelming me
grieving me
breaking meHow long, O Lord, must I stay here in this valley, in the midst of this valley?
O, Lord, have mercy on me, please tell me: why have You set me here in this valley? My child, remember how you prayed to Me to pour out on you the Spirit of grace and supplication?
Yes, Father.I answer those types of prayers, My child. I really do.
Don't you know why you're
in this valley,
in the midst of this valley?Don't you now know a little more how I feel when I look on your sin and the sin of My people?
Don't you now know a little more how My Son felt when He took on your sin and the sin of My people?
Don't you now know a little more how My Spirit feels when He lusts against your sin and the sin of My people?Yes, Holy Father.
My child, how long do I spread out My hands to you?
My child, how long is My Son interceding for you?
My child, how long is My Spirit interceding for you?Don't you know why you're
in this valley,
in the midst of this valley?
look on the bones
touch the darkness
hear the death
feel the dryness
see the ruins
Now do you understand why I've told you to pray without ceasing?
Now do you understand why I've told you to pray day and night?
Now do you understand why I've called you to be a watchman?
Yes, loving, merciful and gracious Father.Don't you know why you're
in this valley,
in the midst of this valley?Yes, Father.
Thank you, Lord.
You know my spirit is willing but my flesh is weak. Now then, how long will you keep praying?
As long as Your Spirit gives me breath,
until You rend the heavens,
until King Jesus returns in gloryNow pray
for Breath
for Light
for Life
for Rain
for RestorationFather, one more thing . . .
Yes, My child?
Whenever I need to be spurred unto prayer,
whenever I forget this valley,
set me back here
in this valley,
in the midst of this valley,
will You?Yes, My child, You know I will.

Wow that was beautiful and a great reminder to me to pray day and night! Thanks!
i love that background. it looks familiar ;D is it a midwestern state?
this is reassuring b/c i sure know the valley. though, it gives me a better appreciation for when i finally do see mountains. =)
@wanderingthoughtsofabrokenman - same here.
Love this! Reminds me of the song, 'You're Not Shaken' by Phil Stacey
I am sinking in the river that is raging
I am drowning
Will I ever, rise to breathe again
I wanna know why
I just wanna understand
Will I ever know why?
How could this be from Your hand?
/Chorus/
When every little thing that I have dreamed would be just slips away like water through my hands
And when it seems the walls of my beliefs are crashing down like they’re all made of sand
I won’t, let go of You now
because I know, oh, You’re not shaken
I am trembling in the darkness of my own fear
All the questions with no answers
So grip me while I’m here
And I may never know why
Oh I may not understand
But I will lift up my eyes,
and trust this is Your plan
/Chorus/
When I am in the valley
of the shadow of death
You’re not shaken
You’re not shaken
You're right here beside me and
You have never left
You're not shaken
You're not shaken
@wanderingthoughtsofabrokenman - You're welcome. I am in constant need of that reminder as well. Thank God for His Holy Spirit who teaches us and leads us in the way we should go.
@YouTOme - That's actually a picture from Colorado. We were out there a couple weeks ago.
I agree w/ you that we often take the mountains for granted, we don't appreciate them as we should.
@shineyourlight_x - Amen. He is not shaken! Thanks so much sharing that song; I wasn't familiar w/ it. A new favorite related passage of mine is Isaiah 26:1-4:
In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah:
“We have a strong city;
he sets up salvation
as walls and bulwarks.
2 Open the gates,
that the righteous nation that keeps faith may enter in.
3 You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
4 Trust in the LORD forever,
for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock..."
(As way of background, I was writing this from the perspective of praying for revival (in my own life and the Church as a whole) and how I don't always have the urgency to pray that I ought to have, so it's good and necessary for God to take me to the valley, so to speak, to show me the dry bones.)
