  • multiply (a prayer for revival based on Ezekiel)

    Ezekiel 5:7
Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Because you have multiplied disobedience more than the nations that are all around you, have not walked in My statutes nor kept My judgments, nor even done according to the judgments of the nations that are all around you’— 8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: ‘Indeed I, even I, am against you and will execute judgments in your midst in the sight of the nations.

Ezekiel 16:25 You built your high places at the head of every road, and made your beauty to be abhorred. You offered yourself to everyone who passed by, and multiplied your acts of harlotry. . . . 29 Moreover you multiplied your acts of harlotry as far as the land of the trader, Chaldea; and even then you were not satisfied.

Ezekiel 23:19 Yet she multiplied her harlotry In calling to remembrance the days of her youth, When she had played the harlot in the land of Egypt.

Ah, LORD God, will You make a complete end of the remnant?
We are Your people, the sheep of Your pasture, purchased with Your Son's precious blood.
We confess we have not counted His life and His blood as precious to us. Forgive us, Lord God.
We confess we have gone astray, each to our own way.
We confess we deserve to die for multiplying our sins and our idolatries against You.
We confess there is nothing in us to allow us to approach Your throne of grace.
We confess we can have boldness and confidence to come to You because we come by the blood of Jesus Christ, through His flesh.
We confess His is the name by which we have been saved and the name by which we come today.
We confess we can draw near to You in full assurance of faith, our hearts sprinkled and bodies washed.
We confess we can draw near to You because even though we have been unfaithful, You are faithful.
We confess that we do have a great high priest interceding for us to save us to the uttermost.
Have You not provided full atonement for us once for all through the sacrifice of Your only begotten Son, the spotless Lamb of God?
Our sins have been great. And now we have greatly multiplied our sins. Forgive us, Lord God.
We have known Your great mercies and grace, but now we ask that you greatly multiply Your mercies and grace toward us.
Will You not remember Your covenant with us that we might know You are the LORD?
Will You not multiply Your love, mercy, grace and peace toward us in the knowledge of Jesus Christ?
We know we cannot come and ask these things for our sake, but only for the sake of Your holy name.
We know You will not hear us or do this for our sake, but only for the sake of Your holy name which we have profaned.
We confess we are ashamed and confounded for our unholy ways.
Will You not have concern for Your holy name which we have profaned among the nations?
Will You not sanctify Your great name once again in us so the nations might know You are the LORD when You are hallowed in us before their eyes?

Ezekiel 36:9 For indeed I am for you, and I will turn to you, and you shall be tilled and sown. 10 I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, all of it; and the cities shall be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. 11 I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bear young; I will make you inhabited as in former times, and do better for you than at your beginnings. Then you shall know that I am the LORD...

29 I will deliver you from all your uncleannesses. I will call for the grain and multiply it, and bring no famine upon you. 30 And I will multiply the fruit of your trees and the increase of your fields, so that you need never again bear the reproach of famine among the nations. 31 Then you will remember your evil ways and your deeds that were not good; and you will loathe yourselves in your own sight, for your iniquities and your abominations. 32 Not for your sake do I do this,” says the Lord GOD, “let it be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel!”

33 ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “On the day that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will also enable you to dwell in the cities, and the ruins shall be rebuilt. 34 The desolate land shall be tilled instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who pass by. 35 So they will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the wasted, desolate, and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.’ 36 Then the nations which are left all around you shall know that I, the LORD, have rebuilt the ruined places and planted what was desolate. I, the LORD, have spoken it, and I will do it.

36 ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “I will also let the house of Israel inquire of Me to do this for them: I will increase their men like a flock. 38 Like a flock offered as holy sacrifices, like the flock at Jerusalem on its feast days, so shall the ruined cities be filled with flocks of men. Then they shall know that I am the LORD.”’”

  • Awesome.

    Praying this with you.

  • HI Karen, saved sinners will always have to deal with sin. The Lord left us hear for lots of reasons, but I guess one reason is to show us that on our own we cannot be successful. We need Him and His daily deliverance. I am always encourage with Phil 1:6. It is so nice to see God has accepted the responsibility for grooming me to meet Jesus. I have always felt there is plan A and plan B. Plan A is hard because I need to read the Bible and listen to the Spirit about things that need to change in my life. If I do not cooperate, He goes to plan B--make my life a living hell until He gets my attention. I learn very well in hospitals.

    Very helpful post, Karen.

  • I will make you inhabited as in former times, and do better for you than at your beginnings. Then you shall know that I am the LORD...

Is it right to take this prophecy to heart in that what God has begun in my heart  He will increase until perfection?

  • @TravelingStranger - Thanks & bless you, brother.

@ANVRSADDAY - Yes, on our own we can't be successful. We have to keep abiding in Christ, relying on Him. That's not only for our best but for God's glory. When we forget that, we do get those hospital visits, etc. (though I wouldn't necessarily say that's Plan B ).

@quest4god@revelife - Whatever God has begun in us, we can be sure He will increase it until perfection ~ Philippians 1:6, which Frank mentioned above. I really want to reflect more on that concept of God's doing better than at our beginnings...I think it's something like Spurgeon spoke of: "There is a point in grace which is as much above the ordinary Christian as the ordinary Christian is above the worldly."
