our yearnings & desires and God's mission (Isaiah 26:9)
Isaiah 26:9a
My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you. (ESV)With my soul have I desired thee in the night;
yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: (KJV)For whom or what are you yearning tonight?
Whom or what is your soul desiring tonight?
Whom or what does your spirit seek?Are you yearning for the LORD?
Are you desiring Him tonight?Does your spirit seek the LORD?
Does your spirit earnestly seek the LORD?
Does your spirit earnestly seek Him early?
Isaiah 26:9
My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
For when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.
With my soul have I desired thee in the night;
yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early:
for when thy judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.Have you ever considered that your desire for the LORD influences the world's desire for the LORD?
How will the world come to desire the LORD if you're not desiring Him?
How will the world come to yearn for the LORD if you're not yearning for Him?
How will the world come to seek the LORD if you're not seeking Him?
How will the world come to earnestly seek the LORD if you're not earnestly seeking Him?

There are undoubtedly some who have that strong yearning deep in their hearts, but who haven't identified the Cause, the One who is calling them.
God's people were drawn away to worship other "gods" which were no gods and only things made by men just as was prophesied. But that yearning was in their hearts for the true God:
Deut. 4:29: "But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul."
@quest4god@revelife - Amen, Norm. Thank you! What reminders for us to be in prayer for those who don't yet know Him, for those who've already come to Him but have left their first Love and for ourselves, that God would keep our hearts fervently seeking after Him alone.
John 4:23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.
