  • those are a lot of links! im getting dizzy! lol.

    arise and build.  that reminds me of a command in Zechariah.  i love how some of the books seem to parallel each other like that. work of your hands or something like that.. that God would provide the work of our hands.

    somewhere in there is one of my favorite verses.."not by might nor by power, but by His holy spirit
    . =)  a-men.

  • i must be tired.. i just totally rambled there. i realize now that zechariah's isnt that closely related except for the idea of work.  please forgive this tired sister. i would edit my comment but i am accepting my humanity tonight.

  • @YouTOme - Yeah, a lot of links. I wanted to put the posts all together here to make it easier to just say (write): "See my links here" in future posts. I have other posts I've tagged Nehemiah, but they don't deal w/ the book quite so directly as these posts do.

    No, you were not rambling at all. Zechariah was a prophet after the exile when the building of the temple had stopped; the first part of the book deals w/ that. That's the exact situation we find in Nehemiah, except w/ the wall & gates of Jerusalem.

    Psalm 90:17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
    and establish the work of our hands upon us;
    yes, establish the work of our hands!

    (The previous verses are really good...well, the whole Psalm is good! Hmmm. I might have to write on it sometime...)

Thank God. He can make men and women in middle life sing again with a joy that has been chastened by a memory of their past failures. ~ Alan Redpath
