Amen.Jeremiah 3
19 “But I said:
‘How can I put you among the children
And give you a pleasant land,
A beautiful heritage of the hosts of nations?’
“And I said:
'You shall call Me, “My Father,”
And not turn away from Me.’
20 Surely, as a wife treacherously departs from her husband,
So have you dealt treacherously with Me,
O house of Israel,” says the LORD.
21 A voice was heard on the desolate heights,
Weeping and supplications of the children of Israel.
For they have perverted their way;
They have forgotten the LORD their God.
22 “Return, you backsliding children,
And I will heal your backslidings.”
“Indeed we do come to You,
For You are the LORD our God.
23 Truly, in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills,
And from the multitude of mountains;
Truly, in the LORD our God
Is the salvation of Israel.
24 For shame has devoured
The labor of our fathers from our youth—
Their flocks and their herds,
Their sons and their daughters.
25 We lie down in our shame,
And our reproach covers us.
For we have sinned against the LORD our God,
We and our fathers,
From our youth even to this day,
And have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God.”

Hi Karen, nicely done as usual. Thanks. I am so grateful to the Lord than when I really start so slide, He brings me back quickly--sometimes discipline, but usual some new exciting verse in the Bible. I am in a personal revival right now because He spoke to me wonderfully from Deut 1:32. He basically said to me, 'After all I have done for you FRANK, how can you not trust Me.' That just ignited my spirit. I don't know why, but some wonderful churchgoers from all denominations, seem to slip into prolonged backsliding and get themselves all messed up. Each church seems to have suggestions on how to avoid that and I guess it helps, but I have found that I don't get away with much long and then Zap!! Very nice Christians have dumped me in Xanga for obvious reasons, but praise the Lord, He doesn't.
I am reading through the O.T. again. It is really exciting to see how God just keeps forgiving them over and over again. He disciplines ant then forgives and restores. He is so compassionate. In my old age with lots of memories, I am more and more impressed with God's mercy.
It is sad as you post suggests at the prevelence of so many seemingly in a backsliden condition.
Wonderful post, Karen
