  • a couple bags of cranberries reminded me

    This morning there he was

    Your child
    husband
    father
    family man
    called to shepherd his family

in the grocery store – carrying a couple bags of cranberries in anticipation of celebrating Christmas with his family.

And soon there he will be

    Your servant
    pastor
    teacher
    family man
    called to shepherd Your family

in the congregation – carrying Your Word and celebrating Christmas with Your family.

    Our Father,

Bless those You have called to be shepherds.
Help them to rejoice in the good tidings,
empower them to proclaim the good tidings
    with clarity
    with boldness
    with assurance
    to family.

    Amen.

  • I wish I did a better job of sheparding than I do. Sometimes you feel like you are at a dead end and nowhere to go. But I guess thats where God wants us at times to see how much we need Him and trust Him instead of ourselves

  • Merry Christmas, Karen.

  • @UnworthyofHisgrace - But I guess thats where God wants us at times to see how much we need Him and trust Him instead of ourselves

Yes! Exactly. We can't know His sufficiency until we recognize our own insufficiency! We're humbled & emptied, at the end of our rope, but then He comes in the fullness of time and fills us up with Himself.

  • @FRANK@revelife - Thank you, Frank. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are blessed as you worship Him today (tomorrow, for you).

    Karen

About me...

Christian hedonist in training. Pressing on to know more and more of the joy of the LORD. Pleading with God to rend the heavens and revive and refresh my own soul, as well as His Church, to His praise, honor and glory.

Thank God. He can make men and women in middle life sing again with a joy that has been chastened by a memory of their past failures. ~ Alan Redpath
