Thank God for His Divine Love that spread the Feast!
I was thinking about the feast many of us would be enjoying today and then thought of the feast God has provided for us in Jesus Christ. As we eat our earthly feast today, let's not forget to give thanks for the heavenly feast God has provided us to us freely by grace through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. Though we'll stuff our faces at the table today, we'll eventually get hungry and thirsty again, but our Lord has promised that if we eat and drink of Him, the true bread and the living bread, we will never hunger or thirst. If you've not yet received God's gift of salvation through Christ, I invite you to come to the feast, so you may never hunger or thirst again.Divine love making a feast and calling in the guests.
(Isaac Watts, 1707)
( Luke 14:17 - 14:23)How sweet and aweful is the place
With Christ within the doors,
While everlasting love displays
The choicest of her stores!Here every bowel of our God
With soft compassion rolls;
Here peace and pardon bought with blood
Is food for dying souls.[While all our hearts and all our songs
Join to admire the feast,
Each of us cry with thankful tongues,
"Lord, why was I a guest?"Why was I made to hear thy voice,
And enter while there's room;
When thousands make a wretched choice,
And rather starve than come?"]'Twas the same love that spread the feast
That sweetly forced us in
Else we had still refused to taste,
And perished in our sin.[Pity the nations, O our God!
Constrain the earth to come;
Send thy victorious word abroad,
And bring the strangers home.We long to see thy churches full,
That all the chosen race
May with one voice, and heart, and soul,
Sing thy redeeming grace.]

Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
Isaiah 55v.2
God offers the exquisite feast with the Lord Jesus. There is also a nice feast at church for which I do poorly most of the time. I was talking to my wife about another feast after watching a movie. There is another feast for the husband who comes home to a loving, embracing wife after a long trip. There is the proud father watching his children excel. I have my own personal, private joke. I have 3 adult children and they have always been employed--more of God's grace and mercy in the area of provision. Then at age 76, when all former family males never reached 72, I am alive!! I am running out of time to become perfected.
Then the Lord's Feast in the future.

@llamalima - Amen. How ridiculous we think we can be satisfied w/ anything but Christ...
@FRANK@revelife - Frank, I love your retrospective on the concept of feast...God is perfecting us, getting us ready to see Him face to face. Hard to imagine sometimes, but I'm more and more ready.
