my new song: "My soul is clean"
I sat and agonized over my sin daily
Guilt oppressed me
Shame weighed me down
Though I read Your promise that Your blood cleansed me from all sin
Though I read Your promise You were always with me
Guilt and shame were my constant companions
Their voices haunted me
My heart spoke continually to me
"Your soul is not clean."
Continuing doubt
Never-ending tormentI sat and studied Your Word daily
Guilt atoned for at Calvary's cross
Shame borne outside the gate
Though I read Your promise Your blood cleansed me from all sin
Though I read Your promise You took all my guilt and shame
Guilt and shame spoke louder than the promise
Their voices haunted me
My heart spoke continually to me
"Your soul is not clean."
Continuing doubt
Never-ending tormentI lay down to confess my sin once again
Guilt oppressed me
Shame weighed me down
Though I had read the promise Your blood has cleansed me from all my sin
That day Your wrote the promise on my heart
Your Holy Spirit spoke louder than my guilt and shame
Your voice assured me
Your Holy Spirit spoke clearly to me
"Your soul is clean."
Blessed assurance
Never-ending blissYou lifted me up to praise Your Name
Delivered from guilt
Unshackled from shame
The promise of forgiveness through Your precious blood – You wrote it on heart
That glorious day You put a new song in my mouth
My heart beating and my chest bursting with joy unspeakable
My lips and tongue tingle, they long to sing this song to the world
Here I am, send me out to sing this song of praise to You, my God,
"My soul is clean through the Savior's blood!"
Blessed assurance
Never-ending bliss

Freedom in Christ, though my eyes refuse to see, is a truth beyond measure, that no mind can readily concieve; and yet, my heart takes heed. Praise God my heart takes heed.
Thank you for your song.
shame is a big problem with believers. we always seem to stay in a state of shame. but we should know that God took away our shame and reproach. we are clean and blameless in His sight when we repent of our sins
"There is no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death."
Truly understanding and accepting those words is difficult at first because we were for so long under the curse of sin and death. That is why God takes great pains to assure us that, "Yes it is real, yes it is true. You have been set free, my child!" Praise His Name forever!
@mpwarren - Whitefield spoke of God's love and mercy to Him like this: "I can only adore – comprehend it, I cannot. It is past my finding out."
@ISpeakLife - Yes, shame is a big problem. We must continue to immerse ourselves in the truth of God's Word (and encourage one another w/ the truth) as well as ask His Spirit to speak assurance to our souls.
@quest4god@revelife - Thanks be to God He takes great pains to assure us that, "Yes it is real, yes it is true. You have been set free, my child!"
Amen! What a wonderful Savior!
Wow-- that is so beautiful. It's a psalm of the dead-life that comes before the life-giver!
Shout for Joy that Christ has REDEEMED US!!! This makes me want to render all Glory and Praise to God on high! Every time His Holy Spirit brings life to just one more person I am full of Joy!
@deepestrecesses@revelife - David, though this could be read as an experience of salvation, I actually wrote it based on my experience of assurance of forgiveness the Holy Spirit gave me many, many years after I was saved. I already knew I would not be lost, yet I continued to grieve and agonize over my sin and guilt to the point where I was in bondage, in spite of knowing the promises of Scripture that Christ's blood had atoned for all my sin.
I am shouting for joy along with you that He has redeemed us!
In this case, even though I was already alive in Him, God renewed/revived the life I had in Him.
By His grace I will share His life, and I know that is your desire as well.
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God,
O God of my salvation,
and my tongue will sing aloud of your righteousness.
O Lord, open my lips,
and my mouth will declare your praise.
Psalm 51:14-15
