When you're feeling shattered, come to Him in "Pieces"
"Are you sleeping in today?"
"Can't I just sleep in for the rest of my life?"I've been reflecting on my past and present failures, disappointments, rejections and sins...When I woke up today, I began the day as I ended it last night...I want to throw my hands up and say, "What's the use? There'll only be more failure, more disappointment, more rejection and more sin today...and tomorrow...and the next day, and the next...Why can't I just sleep in for the rest of my life?"
The thief wants to keep us focused on our failures, disappointments, rejections and sins...the thief has come to steal, kill and destroy...to rob us of our life, joy, peace and assurance.
When we feel this way, we only have one recourse...
Do you hear the Good Shepherd's voice calling you? Come to Him with me. He has promised to give us rest and make us whole.
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. 2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. 4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. 5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. 6 This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them. 7 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. 8 All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. 9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. 10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. 11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. John 10:1-11.
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out. John 6:37.
You call my name
I come to you in pieces
So you can make me whole
I tried so hard
So hard
I tried so hard(from "Pieces" by Rob Graves)
If you're feeling weary and heavy laden, if you're feeling like you're a total loser, a certified failure, if you're feeling shattered in more than a million pieces, if you've come to the point where you want to give it all up, remember the Lord Jesus is calling to you today. If you come to Him, He will not cast you out. If you've tried hard, so hard...but all you've ended up with is failure, disappointment, rejection and sin...come to Him in pieces so He can make you whole. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalm 51:17.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. Psalm 42:11.
(The song has about a one minute instrumental introduction, so please keep listening/watching.)What Scriptures and songs has the Lord used to encourage you when you've felt shattered?

That is a cool song. My song is an old one. Be Still And Know by Stephen Curtis Chapman.
Be blessed.
@bronze_for_gold--I had to take a listen to that song on itunes since I wasn't familiar with it. "Be still and know that I am God" is usually just what we need to do when we've lost perspective--like Elijah.
"Pieces" is a song I wouldn't have been familiar with except my husband had the CD and I ended up getting it as well. I really appreciate the raw emotion in the album's lyrics.
Blessings in Christ, Karen
